Fuel solenoid delete?
1 day 10 hours ago
I was wondering if it is ok to remove the fuel solenoid and its associated wiring from my '79 A1 wiring loom as it never came with a solenoid when purchased as a project. It looks like the carbs will function fine on gravity feed from the tank. Also how can I tell what size tank mine is, I believe its 21.3litres.

Fuel tank information:
www.kz1300.com/forum/paint-bodywork/2729-gas-tank-size
The USA and Canadian KZ1300 A1 and A2 had the smaller squarish tank. The A3 and A4 KZ had the more rounded tank.
The USA market KZ1300 B2 Touring had the large tank - the same, I believe, as the European market Z1300 tank.
The European market ( and, I believe Australian) Z1300 and ZG1300 injection had the large squarish tank throughout the production run.

Regarding the fuel solenoid - it seems some owners choose to remove it, and replace the tank’s fuel tap with either a manually operated item, or a vacuum type.
